Auto Tab Sleep Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
Auto Tab Sleep is a Chrome extension that shows how many of your tabs are awake and puts idle tabs to sleep. This policy explains what it reads, what it keeps, and where that data goes.
The short version
Nothing leaves your computer. Auto Tab Sleep has no server, no account and no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It never reads what is on the pages you visit. Everything it keeps stays in Chrome's storage for the extension, on your computer.
What Auto Tab Sleep reads
- Your open tabs: for each tab, the address, title and site icon, and whether it is the tab you are on, pinned, asleep or playing sound. It uses these to count and list your tabs, find tabs open more than once, and decide which tabs are idle.
- When you last used each tab: it notes when you switch away from a tab, and when a tab starts or stops playing sound, to tell how long a tab has gone unused.
- Memory and CPU use for your whole computer, from Chrome's system information. It does not read memory or CPU use for individual tabs.
Auto Tab Sleep does not read what is on the pages you visit, what you type, or your browsing history beyond the tabs you have open.
What Auto Tab Sleep keeps, and where
All of it lives in Chrome's storage for the extension, on this computer. None of it is synced to your Google account.
- Your settings: idle time, auto-sleep on or off, tab budget and never-sleep sites.
- A memory and CPU history for the charts: one sample a minute, keeping the last 24 hours. Each sample holds the time, memory and CPU use, and how many tabs were awake and open. It holds no tab addresses or titles.
- How many tabs it put to sleep today.
- When each open tab was last used. Chrome clears this when it restarts.
Removing Auto Tab Sleep from Chrome deletes everything it kept.
What Auto Tab Sleep sends
Nothing. Auto Tab Sleep makes no network requests. No tab address, title, setting, usage statistic or identifier is sent to Unit09 or to any third party. Your data is never sold, shared or transferred to anyone.
Permissions, and why each one is asked for
Auto Tab Sleep is granted no access to any website. It has no content scripts and cannot read or change pages.
- Tabs: to read the address, title and state of open tabs, as described above. Chrome shows this as "Read your browsing history" when you install the extension.
- Storage: to keep the settings and history described above on this computer.
- Alarms: to run a check once a minute that records memory and CPU use and puts idle tabs to sleep.
- System memory and system CPU: to show how much memory is in use and how busy the CPU is.
- Favicon: to show each tab's site icon in the popup, from Chrome's own icon cache.
Children
Auto Tab Sleep collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date revised before that version is published to the Chrome Web Store.
